Have you and your family ever been to the Museum of Chincoteague Island before? If you haven’t, then you are missing out on a great find. This museum has many different exhibits, but you can take a Chincoteague Island History Tour to learn more about the island. The island has a rich history of 200 years, and it is a barrier island off the coast of Virginia. Here you will be able to see the rich history of the island and learn a little more about the island’s people and culture. We promise that you won’t hear “I’m bored” from the kids on the day you visit this museum.

Assateague Lighthouse

Another great place to explore while you are on vacation here in Chincoteague Island is the Assateague Lighthouse. Located on the southern end of a nearby island, Assateague is where you will find this lighthouse. This lighthouse is known for its colors of red and white, which resemble the Coast Guard. We recommend that you wear good shoes to climb to the top of the lighthouse as there are 175 steps in all. What a great day spending your time as a family exploring this impressive lighthouse together!

While there are many other fun things to do this fall on Chincoteague Island, we wanted to share these few with you. If you haven’t booked your next vacation to stay in one of our Chincoteague Island vacation rentals, now is the time. We hope to see you and your family this fall as you explore our island a little bit together.
