Chincoteague Seafood Festival - Everything You Need To Know!

53rd Annual Seafood Festival

Chincoteague Seafood Festival

The Chincoteague Seafood Festival is held each year on the first Saturday of May to promote the Eastern Shore of Virginia’s seafood industry, and is so much fun for the entire family!

This mouth watering celebration offers fresh, local seafood including little neck clams, clam fritters and strips, raw and fried oysters, fried fish, steamed shrimp, clam chowder, grilled chicken, sweet potato fries, boardwalk fries, cornbread, and a salad bar! Non-alcoholic beverages are included in the ticket price, and beer is available for purchase!

Seaside Vacations & Sales will once again be the Premiere Band Sponsor. We are super excited to sponsor this longtime festival favorite, Front Page News! Be sure to wear your dancing shoes!

Tips so you can enjoy the Seafood Festival Day:

  • Purchase your tickets well in advance! - The Chincoteague Seafood Festival sells out each year, often weeks before the festival date. Purchasing tickets online through the Chamber of Commerce's Eventbrite portal is highly encouraged to ensure you are able to secure your tickets!

  • Book your reservations for your stay early! -  Booking well in advance of the festival will save you so much money. With the popularity of the festival growing each year, homes book very quickly, with some guests booking a full year in advance! Locking in your favorite vacation rental early will save you time, money, and frustration! Booking directly on the Seaside Vacations website is the best way to ensure you’re getting the best possible rates!

  • Divide and Conquer! - Food is served from various tents in the festival grounds, so planning ahead to have members of your family be responsible for different foods is definitely the way to go! (Bonus Tips: Food Trays are VERY useful & don’t forget to have someone save your table!)

  • Don’t forget your ID! - While water and soft drinks are included with your ticket purchase, beer is not. Be sure to have your ID handy if you’d like to purchase beer at the beer tent!

  • Tables are limited! -  There are a number of tables available for attendees to sit at, but they are limited! Plan to arrive early if you’d like to secure a table, but bringing along a folding table, tablecloths, some lawn chairs, or even a picnic blanket is never a bad idea!

  • Ride the Pony! - The Pony Express Trolley, that is! This FREE trolley is provided by the Chamber of Commerce and Town of Chincoteague, and will get you to and from Tom’s Cove! (You'll want to take the GREEN route!) Parking is available at the festival site, but is limited.
  • Respect the Environment - Chincoteague is known for its natural beauty. Help preserve it by disposing of trash in designated bins!

As always, we're here for you, and would LOVE to help you plan your next Chincoteague getaway! Give us a call @ 757-336-7070 or Book Online! Mention this Blog and enjoy FREE Early Arrival and FREE Late Departure!

And remember, Linens are included in every stay - every time - with beds made!
